The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved first reading of proposed Bylaw Nos. 260 and 264, which would amend the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, and requested staff schedule an in-person Community Information Meeting in July 2026. [1]

The committee also requested a Public Hearing after the referral period closes. [1]

The approved amendments include requiring freshwater cisterns, discouraging groundwater-fed swimming pools, changing a setback from 30 metres to 15 metres, and changing a cistern requirement from 8,400 litres to 18,000 litres. [1]

The committee requested a template for a Section 219 Land Title Act restrictive covenant requiring that a secondary suite be permitted only where a covenant prohibits subdivision or stratification of the suite. [1]

The committee also requested staff incorporate the housekeeping, grammatical and formatting amendments discussed at the meeting and send the bylaws for referral to relevant agencies. [1]
