The Denman Island Local Trust Committee endorsed Option 2 for the Denman Housing Review Project, combining the project’s elements into one process. The committee also asked staff to prepare an updated project charter incorporating OCP technical amendments and a First Nations acknowledgement update. [1]
The minutes say the committee endorsed the engagement approach discussed at the meeting and asked staff to bring an Engagement Plan to a subsequent meeting. [1] Planner Chadwick said staff intended to bring the plan to the May 20 meeting. [2]
The committee also asked staff to schedule a special meeting with the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee in the Summer/Fall 2025 to discuss mutually supportive housing solutions and review draft K’ómoks First Nation engagement-summary recommendations. [1]
Staff presented two draft maps for future discussions: a subdivision-potential map estimating new residential lots under current zoning, and a dwelling-unit-potential map estimating new dwellings, including secondary suites and additional dwelling units. [1]
The minutes record preferences for future engagement including an evening Zoom presentation, paper and online comment forms, an evening or weekend in-person component, and displays of maps and comment boards.
