Denman trustees advance housing review and Triple Rock rezoning

The Local Trust Committee approved next steps for a housing review and gave first reading to a bylaw amendment for additional units at Triple Rock.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee approved a revised housing review project charter, requested an additional $5,000 for continued engagement with K’ómoks First Nation and approved next steps for completing the project’s next phase.^[1]

The minutes say the project charter timelines were updated for target completion within the current term.^[1] Staff said the additional funding would support continued First Nations engagement, including work by an archaeologist and biologist to document heritage sites and information with cultural knowledge holders.^[1]

The committee also approved first reading of proposed Bylaw No. 250 for the Triple Rock Land Co-op application.^[1] The amendment would increase the number of permitted units from 15 to 19 and permit secondary suites in all units.^[1]

The bylaw was found not to be contrary to or at variance with the Islands Trust Policy Statement, and the committee approved referrals to First Nations, local governments and agencies for comment.^[1]

The minutes record that the next regular meeting was scheduled for December 10, 2024, at the Denman Activity Centre.^[1]
