Ongoing ecological restoration work at Helliwell Provincial Park includes conifer removal, pruning, weeding, and planting native vegetation to enhance habitat for the endangered Taylor’s checkerspot butterfly and other at-risk species. The Vancouver Zoo has been raising and releasing the butterflies annually since 2020.
