Farmers Market Traffic and Parking Management Efforts

infrastructure · May 12, 2018 · Denman Island Farmers Market

The Denman Island Farmers Market experienced heavy traffic on May 12, 2018. To alleviate parking and traffic issues, signs have been placed to divert Hornby Ferry traffic, and two traffic monitors will be on duty starting June. The RCMP advised placing tape along the road to prevent parking that blocks traffic lanes. Vendors are encouraged to move their vehicles after setup to free parking for customers.

  • “The success of the Farmers Market is wonderful and it is growing year by year but this growth brings its own challenges! We had a very busy Saturday on May 12th. Traffic was heavy and it kept the Traffic Monitor extremely busy!... We have put a sign on Saturdays at the juncture of both Lacon and Denman Rds and East Rd and McFarlane to let drivers know that the market is on so they can take Lacon Rd... Starting in June we will have two traffic monitors on duty... We have been advised by the RCMP ” — The Islands Grapevine – May 17th, 2018 (May 17th, 2018)
