Groundwater Registration and Licensing Information

infrastructure · Denman Island

An article explains the requirements under the Water Sustainability Act for groundwater users on Denman Island. Domestic users do not need to register or license their wells but are encouraged to register. Non-domestic users, including businesses and irrigation over 1000 m2, must obtain a groundwater license and pay fees. Licensing applications received by March 1, 2019, can have historical precedence backdated and fees waived. Dugout ponds connected to groundwater or surface water require licensing.
