Islands Trust adopts Bylaw Enforcement Notification Bylaw

governance · 2019-06-06 · Islands Trust meeting

The Islands Trust adopted the Bylaw Enforcement Notification (BEN) bylaw in 2017 to simplify bylaw enforcement through an adjudication process outside the court system. The bylaw allows for fines to be reduced to zero upon compliance and involves a two-step adjudication process including mediation. The bylaw has been adopted on eight other islands without public backlash.
