Petition Campaign to Ban or Reduce Pacific Herring Roe Fishery Gains Traction

A petition campaign to ban or seriously reduce the Pacific herring roe fishery around Hornby and Denman Islands is ongoing. Conservancy Hornby has written to Jimmy Pattison, owner of Canfisco which leases all the seiners. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) Regional Manager acknowledged awareness of the petition and its presence with the Minister's office, indicating the petition is gaining traction.
