Research on Llama Antibodies for Disease Diagnosis and Treatment
other · National Research Council Canada, Ottawa
Research by the National Research Council Canada and collaborators is exploring the use of llama-derived single-domain antibodies (nanobodies) for diagnosing and treating diseases such as Alzheimer's. These antibodies can cross the blood-brain barrier and specifically mark cerebral lesions. Human trials are expected to begin in the next few years.
