Swarm Season Begins for Local Honeybee Colonies
environment · May 2021 · Denman Island
As spring progresses, honeybee colonies are growing rapidly and may swarm if they run out of space. Swarming is a natural colony split where a portion of bees leave to find a new home. Beekeepers are advised to inspect hives frequently and add boxes as needed to prevent swarming.
