Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly Habitat Restoration Involves Hornby Students and Volunteers

In mid-October 2021, 19 students from Hornby Island Community School, along with volunteers and biologists, participated in habitat restoration at Helliwell Provincial Park to support the endangered Taylor’s Checkerspot butterfly. Activities included removing invasive plants and planting 950 native plant plugs. This is the sixth consecutive year of such restoration efforts.
