Annual Apple Harvest and Pressing Activity
community · September 2024 · Private orchard and nearby areas
Local residents recently completed pressing apples from their orchard and nearby sources using a borrowed apple press. The leftover apple pomace is used as livestock feed or compost material.
This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

- “We just finished. For the last two mornings, we have been pressing all the apples we could scrape together from our orchard, a friend’s orchard and a tree growing on the road allowance. We borrowed the apple press from the Growers and Producers Association.” — The Islands Grapevine – September 26th, 2024 (September 26th, 2024)
