BC Ferries announces planned service upgrades

infrastructure · September 2022 · Routes 21 and 22, Denman and Hornby Islands

A 2022 report said BC Ferries had agreed to operate the Quinitsa on the Hornby-Denman route in summer 2023, move the Kahloke to the Denman-Buckley Bay route during peak season, expand the Baynes Sound Connector to at least 70 cars, convert it to electric power as part of the expansion, and place a new Island Class ferry on the Hornby-Denman route in 2026.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.
