Beaver Activity and Coho Salmon Conservation in Fillongley/Beadnell Creek

Denman community volunteers have observed increased beaver activity in the lower reaches of Fillongley/Beadnell Creek, which affects coho salmon habitat. Beaver dams can both benefit and hinder salmon migration depending on water flow and dam location. Management decisions about breaching dams require careful consideration of stream flow, water quality, and habitat.
