Christmas Hampers Delivered to 46 Households

community · December 2021 · Community Hall, Denman Island

The DICES Council and staff delivered 46 Christmas hampers filled with locally baked breads, vegetables, treats, and gifts to Denman Island residents. The hampers were supported by donations from local businesses and community members, with packing and delivery held at the Community Hall using its new heating and ventilation systems.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

  • “This year we delivered 46 Christmas hampers brimming with locally baked breads, local veggies, holiday treats and hand matched gifts by our staff elf team... We would also like to thank DIRCS (the Community Hall) for letting us use the community hall as our venue this year. We luxuriated in their new heating system and breathed easy behind our masks, knowing they’ve recently installed a new ventilation system to keep us all safe.” — The Islands Grapevine, December 30th, 2021 (December 30th, 2021)
