CityWest to Build Last-Mile Fibre-to-the-Home Internet on Several Islands

infrastructure · 2022 · Galiano Island, Saturna Island, Van Anda (Texada Island) and other Vancouver Island communities

CityWest announced a $6.5 million project funded by provincial and federal governments to build last-mile fibre-optic internet infrastructure in seven communities including Galiano Island, Saturna Island, and Van Anda on Texada Island. The project aims to provide high-speed internet access to 1,200 rural and remote British Columbians and will connect to the Connected Coast network.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.
