Community Hall and Activity Centre Boards Explore Cooperation

governance · Community Hall and Activity Centre

Following changes to CVRD tax funding, the boards of the Denman Community Hall and the Denman Seniors and Museum Society’s Activity Centre are exploring opportunities for cooperative management, including shared contractors and services, with potential future amalgamation.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

  • “In light of the recent changes to the tax funding from the CVRD for the two Denman community facilities... the two boards are interested in working more cooperatively... Perhaps down the road having two boards may will be redundant and an amalgamation process could be pursued.” — The Islands Grapevine – April 25th, 2019 (April 25th, 2019)
