Concerns Raised About Islands 2050 Official Community Plan Revision Process

governance · December 2021 · Islands Trust jurisdiction

A letter to the editor expressed concern over the rushed process and lack of adequate public consultation regarding the Islands 2050 Official Community Plan revision. The letter criticizes the removal of major features from previous plans and calls for postponement of the first reading until proper engagement can occur.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

Existing public consultation has been totally flawed and the document is more total rewrite than simple revision.” — The Islands Grapevine, December 30th, 2021 (December 30th, 2021)
