The COP 27 climate summit in Sharm-al-Sheikh resulted in an agreement to establish a fund to compensate poor countries for loss and damage caused by extreme climate events, with developed countries expected to contribute. Discussions continue regarding contributions from China and India, and the challenge of limiting global warming to 1.5°C appears increasingly unlikely.
