Ecological restoration work in Helliwell Provincial Park continues, focusing on habitat enhancement for Taylor’s checkerspot butterflies and other species through conifer removal, pruning, weeding, and planting native vegetation. Fire fuel management has been ongoing since 2021 to reduce fire hazards by cutting and burning dead shore pine and invasive English holly, with nearly 5,000 m3 of material removed over four years.
