Hornby-Denman ferry reservation system proposed

infrastructure · September 8th, 2022 · Denman-Hornby ferry

A suggestion was made to introduce a reservation system for the Denman-Hornby ferry to improve revenue and service reliability, as the current raft ferry has repeatedly broken down. The proposal aims to replace the raft with a proper vessel and increase efficiency.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

  • “Okay, the BS CON has broken down AGAIN. I’m looking to turn a negative into a positive here, people. What about introducing a system of reservations? Finance says it’d increase revenue by 23%! Ooh! That stays on point with the BC Ferries Experience. Marketing can totally get behind that! Not that I don’t relish these weekly crisis meetings but what say we concede that raft is a failed experiment, save some face and reinstate a proper vessel?” — The Islands Grapevine – September 8th, 2022 (September 8th, 2022)
