Islands Trust Requests Tree Bylaw Authority Met with Opposition

Residents of the Islands Trust Area have expressed opposition to the Islands Trust's request for tree bylaw authority, citing concerns about regulatory overreach and lack of evidence of a problem. A letter to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs requests that no further consideration be given to tree bylaw authority, recommending continued use of Development Permit processes instead. The letter references a citizen petition with 756 signatures and a governance review report suggesting the Islands Trust should address internal issues before expanding services.
