K’ómoks First Nation treaty negotiations open houses scheduled

governance · September 10-29, 2022 · Comox Valley Regional District Civic Room; Union Bay Community Hall; Kelsey Recreation Centre, Sayward; Virtual

K’ómoks First Nation, British Columbia, and Canada are concluding treaty negotiations and hosting open houses to inform the public about the proposed treaty, which aims to create jobs, promote economic development, increase housing, support tourism, and encourage infrastructure investments. In-person open houses are scheduled for September 10 in Comox, September 12 in Union Bay, and September 17 in Sayward, with a virtual open house on September 29 requiring pre-registration.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.
