Nicaragua has experienced protests since April 2018 triggered by social security reforms. The protests have resulted in at least 90 deaths and nearly 1,000 injuries, with students dominating the demonstrations. The Ortega-Murillo regime faces political challenges amid accusations of authoritarianism and corruption.
