Publisher Reflects on Community Newsletter's Editorial Philosophy and Challenges
community · 2024-01-04
The publisher of The Islands Grapevine shared reflections on the newsletter's commitment to freedom of expression, editorial consistency, and the challenges of maintaining an open forum in the post-pandemic world.
This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.

- “Being committed to freedom of expression colours the soul of the Grapevine... Four years since Covid's arrival it still seems a natch to me... I know there are islanders who wish TIG away for this stance but... providing space for heterodox views has never been more important.” — The Islands Grapevine – January 4th, 2024 (January 4th, 2024)
