Referendum on Fiber-Optic Internet Service Scheduled for November 27
governance · November 27, 2021 · Denman Seniors Centre and Hornby New Horizons Seniors Hall
A referendum will be held on November 27 to decide whether the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) can enter the service area to install fiber-optic internet on Denman and Hornby Islands. A 'Yes' vote will allow CVRD to borrow about $770,000 for installation costs, to be repaid over 10 years via property tax charges. Voting options include mail-in, advance voting on November 17, and special voting on November 24 at designated locations.
This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups. They were not written by a reporter and were not held to the standards this publication now applies. The archive is kept because it is a useful dated record of what happened on Denman, and it is labelled because pretending otherwise would be the first thing we would tell you not to trust. Current reporting is at The Denman Firestarter.
