Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly Recovery Project Update

The Taylor’s Checkerspot Butterfly Recovery Project is ongoing with efforts to restore populations on Denman and Hornby Islands through habitat enhancement, captive rearing, monitoring, and public outreach. The butterfly is endangered and faces many survival challenges. The project involves multiple organizations and volunteers and has received funding from various conservation programs.

This is the archive, not the newspaper. Between 2018 and 2026 this site compiled these items automatically from public community sources — chiefly The Islands Grapevine, regional news feeds and community groups.
